Pressing - Team Leader

Purpose of the Role:

Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of orders within the bending department. Operating sheet metal equipment to fabricate and form products. You will also be responsible for coaching and setting objectives for other team members.

Reports into:

Production Manager 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program, setup and operate press brakes and other forming equipment as required by production plans and schedules
  • Setting and achieving key objectives in programming, setting and operating CNC press brakes
  • Ensuring everyone in the team is clear about what they need to achieve
  • Allocate the workload between press operators and communicate job list to everyone
  • Identifying mistakes as they happen and learn how to avoid the same mistakes again
  • Coaching others on how to avoid making mistakes
  • Inspection of components produced to ensure specifications are met
  • Advise Production Manager of any issues or delays with work schedules affecting customer orders
  • Resolve and rectify any issues with missing parts, arrange re-cuts and clear backlog
  • Attend daily/weekly meetings with the Production Manager to discuss work schedules
  • Take an active role in continuous improvement and optimising work processes
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment.

Key Skills Required to be Effective: 

  • Proven CNC press brake experience
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in setting and operating CNC press brakes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing
  • Planning and Scheduling
  • Coaching and developing others
  • Running effective one-to-ones.
  • Ability to train press operators, providing on-the-job training.
  • Ability to give constructive feedback to members of the team who need support

Goods Out - Team Leader

Purpose of the Role:

Responsible for the quality and accuracy of outgoing shipments to customers. You will be picking and packing finished goods and arranging transport to ship orders to our customers. You will also be responsible for coaching and setting objectives for other team members.

Reports into:

Production Manager 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting and achieving key objectives in our goods out department 
  • Ensuring everyone in the team is clear about what they need to achieve 
  • Ensure deliveries are scheduled to maximise drops and reduce distance travelled 
  • Ensure that orders are shipped to customers on time and without damage 
  • Maximise drivers’ availability by ensuring orders are picked, packed and ready for dispatch at the start of each day 
  • Determine the most efficient and cost-effective delivery method available and outsource delivery when required 
  • Generate delivery notes for goods to be dispatched and report any issues promptly 
  • Advise Production Manager of any issues or delays with work schedules affecting customer orders 
  • Identifying mistakes as they happen and learn how to avoid the same mistakes again 
  • Coaching others on how to avoid making mistakes 
  • Resolve and rectify any issues with missing parts 
  • Attend daily/weekly meetings with the Production Manager to discuss work schedules 
  • Take an active role in continuous improvement and optimising work processes 
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment

Key Skills Required to be Effective: 

  • Experience in data entry, record keeping, and effective customer service skills including excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to be able to liaise with the team and customers.

MIG Welding - Team leader

Purpose of the Role:

Lead a team of experienced MIG welders to produce fabricated components to customer specification in the most efficient, timely manner and to a high standard. You will also be responsible for coaching and setting objectives for other team members.

Reports into:

Production Manager 

Key Responsibilities:

  • The fabrication and welding of ferrous and non-ferrous assemblies to customer specification 
  • Setting and achieving key objectives for our MIG welding team 
  • Ensuring everyone in the team is clear about what they need to achieve 
  • Allocate the workload between the MIG welding team and communicate job list to everyone 
  • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws 
  • Identifying mistakes as they happen and learn how to avoid the same mistakes again 
  • Coaching others on how to avoid making mistakes 
  • Inspection of components produced to ensure specifications are met 
  • Advise Production Manager of any issues or delays with work schedules affecting customer orders 
  • Resolve and rectify any issues with missing parts, arrange re-cuts and clear backlog 
  • Ensure consumable part stock is monitored and replenished where necessary 
  • Attend daily/weekly meetings with the Production Manager to discuss work schedules 
  • Take an active role in continuous improvement and optimising work processes 
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment

Key Skills Required to be Effective: 

  • Excellent knowledge of MIG welding and associated fabrication processes 
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing
