Restoration of Spitfire
Tasked with the restoration project of a World War Two plane, Retro Track and Air (U.K) Ltd looked to Emsea Ltd for the fabrication of bespoke parts. The crashed Spitfire P8208 lay submerged in the mud of the Severn Estuary from 1943 until 1993 when an expedition was mounted to recover the remains.“One of the numerous challenges we have faced was replacing the armoured plate that sits behind the pilot’s head to protect the fuel tanks,” said Peter Watts, Director at Retro Track and Air (U.K) Ltd.
Change – The Old Fire Station
Emsea Ltd. was carefully selected by collaborating artists Rachel Barbaresi and Emma Reynard for a project with a difference. Lead artist, Rachel Barbaresi, headed up a commission by Arts at the newly refurbished Old Fire Station in Oxford. Working alongside ten artist participants, recruited from homeless projects around the city, the contributors experimented with a wide range of artistic processes centred round the theme ‘Growth’ at the beautiful Botanic Garden of Oxford University.
Uncle Peter’s Garden Trowel
After a recommendation from an existing Emsea Ltd. customer, Targett Aviation enlisted the help of Emsea to produce the unique trowel spade design for ‘Uncle Peter’s Garden Trowel’. Originally created by ‘Uncle Peter’ over thirty years ago, the light-weight yet tough garden trowel is still manufactured locally in Gloucestershire.
